2023-2024 INTERNSHIPS

Applications open in August 2023 and are open until December 1st (or until spots are filled). Once you fill out an application, our Athletic Director, Carlea Pettigrew, will be in touch about setting up an interview. Please be on the lookout for an email from cpettigrew@dxnchampions.org.

Multi-Area Focus

DistinXion is already a unique organization in what our mission is and how we utilize character training alongside basketball. Our internship program is no different!

While in the past we have had specific internship positions, this year we are more focused on the development of our interns in multiple areas and different pathways. We understand there are various routes in the sport industry that professionals can take; however, we believe that a toolbox of skills are required for every path. Interns will NOT have a specific position; instead, they will gain experience in the following 4 pathways.

Pathways & Descriptions

Coaching - Learn from experienced DistinXion coaches on how best to provide on court instruction focused on athlete development. This pathway will also provide experience in developing practice plans, leading film sessions, providing player development feedback and evaluations, and developing people on and off the court in basketball and life.

Marketing - Create and provide social media and other marketing content for teams, camps, programs, and the organization as a whole. Website design and development is a huge part of this role as well. This pathway produces management skills and creativity in new areas.

Operations/Administration - This pathway yields the most variety. You will assist in coordinating team gear and equipment for travel, assist with Chapels, Bible studies, prayer, and small groups with our CHAMPIONS teams, lead discussions regarding our character acronym and teach athletes how to demonstrate this outside and during basketball, gather information and edit player, coach, and staff profile biographies to assist in college recruitment of athletes, and develop leadership skills. Our Athletic Director will work closely to manage these administrative tasks for all of our programs, camps, tournaments, training camps, and more.

Video Coordinating & Hudl Sportscode - Film and code for our CHAMPIONS teams using Hudl Sportscode, a program utilized by 30 out of 32 NBA teams and several college athletic departments. Breakdown of offense and defense, plays, and highlights for particular players is a huge part of Sportscode. This pathway encourages the development in technology proficiency and provides opportunities to lead film sessions and contribute feedback to players directly.

*We encourage all genders to apply for all positions
