While we have had specific internship positions, we try to give interns opportunities to develop in multiple areas and experience different pathways of the sport industry; we believe that a toolbox of skills are required for every path and want our interns to develop their toolbox with us!

Are you passionate about basketball and eager to gain real-world experience in a dynamic, high-character program? DistinXion Basketball is seeking highly motivated individuals for our Spring/Summer 2026 internship program. This is a unique opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, develop valuable skills, and contribute directly to athlete development and organizational success.
Timeframe: Spring Semester (January 15 – May 15)
Locations: Bloomington, IN | Washington, IN
Hours: 5–10 hours per week (or as needed)
Coaching & Player Development Intern
This internship is designed for aspiring coaches, trainers, and analysts who want hands-on experience in the intricacies of athlete development both on and off the court. You will receive mentorship in practice planning, film analysis, and personalized player instruction, directly impacting the growth of our athletes.
What You Will Learn & Do:
On-Court Instruction: Learn from experienced DistinXion coaches on how to provide effective, focused instruction during practices and player development sessions.
Film Analysis & Scouting: Gain expertise in breaking down film using Hudl and Synergy software. This includes compiling highlights for recruiting, generating detailed breakdowns of offense and defense, and providing individual feedback to athletes based on their performance.
Program Development: Assist in developing and updating practice plans, playbooks, and workout routines.
Analytics & Research: Track in-season performance, stats, and trends for current athletes, and research advanced coaching strategies, systems, and recruiting trends.
Mentorship: Develop people on and off the court by providing constructive feedback and evaluations in basketball and life.
This Role is Ideal for Students Pursuing:
Coaching, Sport Performance, or Basketball Analytics.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in coaching, training, or organized basketball; familiarity with Hudl, Synergy, and film breakdown; strong understanding of basketball systems.
Marketing & Operations Intern
This position offers a comprehensive view of the business and promotional side of an elite basketball program. You will be crucial in expanding our digital footprint, promoting our athletes, and keeping the organization running smoothly.
What You Will Learn & Do:
Digital Content Creation: Create compelling graphics and videos for social media platforms and assist in writing and distributing program newsletters and promotional materials.
Media & Player Promotion: Produce Hudl/Synergy highlight clips and other digital content specifically for player instruction, development, and recruiting exposure.
Sports Research & Trends: Research current basketball trends, team strategies, and overall program needs to help inform our operations and content strategy.
Program Tracking: Track the season performance, stats, and highlights of current DistinXion players, and maintain updates on our former athletes competing in college.
Operations & Administration: Assist with administrative tasks, including travel arrangements and general organizational support.
This Role is Ideal for Students Interested in:
Sports Marketing, Digital Content Creation, or Basketball Operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with social media, Canva, or video editing; familiarity with Hudl, Synergy, and basketball statistics; strong communication and organizational skills.
In Person Internship Requirements:
All interns are required to attend two in-person on-court sessions per week (location may vary between Bloomington and Washington) and participate in one weekly phone check-in meeting.
